bradleyDr Alastair Bradley, Chair

Alastair qualified in Sheffield in Medicine in 1990 and completed a Law degree (LLB) in 2005. He worked for the University of Sheffield until 2015 as Senior Clinical Lecturer, obtaining an MPhil in Informed Consent and Shared Decision Making. Medical interests include Diabetes and Atrial Fibrillation where he has helped to develop Shared Decision Making tools. He has worked at Tramways Medical Centre since 1995. Alastair joined the LMC Executive in July 2016 as Executive Officer, and was elected to the post of Vice Chair in December 2016.

Outside interests include playing golf, running and cycling, Fell walking (the higher and steeper the better) and helping one of his sons restore classic cars. He and his son are starting to Hill Climb race the restored cars.

durlingsDr Mark Durling, Vice Chair

Mark qualified in Sheffield and did Post Graduate Training in Australia and New Zealand, before completing a GP Registrar Post in Sheffield. Mark works at Grenoside and Wadsley Bridge Surgeries in North Sheffield and became Chair of the LMC in 2008.

Outside of work Mark’s hobbies include playing rugby, mountaineering, rock climbing and scuba diving. He is also a qualified Marine Mammal Medic.

savageDr David Savage, Secretary

David did so badly in his Science O-Levels that he was accepted in to Southampton Medical School with only English, French and German qualifications! He qualified in Southampton and moved to Sheffield in 1985 to pursue a career in general medicine. David eventually saw the light and started as a GP Registrar with Dr John Russell in 1989 and has been on the LMC ever since. He became the LMC Secretary in 2004.

David works at Broomhill and Lodge Moor Surgeries in South West Sheffield.

David spends his spare time playing golf…badly (but better than Dr Durling!) and transporting his two children to and from various sporting events. He also enjoys socialising, amateur dramatics in the form of Christmas Pantomimes and travelling France with his family.

Dr Duncan Couch, Executive Officer

Duncan qualified in 2007 and achieved MRCGP in 2012. He is from Sheffield and returned home after finishing his MBBS in Newcastle upon Tyne. He is a GP Partner at Heeley Green Surgery where he works with his mother, Dr Karen O'Connor, (which works well). His main interest is Palliative Care, but he also enjoys complex medicine in general, and is looking forward to being able to support his fellow colleagues in Sheffield. Duncan joined the LMC Executive in July 2016 as Executive Officer and was re-elected to the post of Executive Officer in December 2016.

Duncan’s hobbies include semi-professional music writing and production under the alias “Dr Nimble”, spending time with his family, cooking and generally anything creative that other people can enjoy.
